The Latin American and Caribbean Society aims to expand the GUQ community’s political, social, and cultural understanding of Latin America and the Caribbean. Bringing diplomats, scholars, journalists, and students together, the society wants to discuss current regional issues in the region such as the crisis in Venezuela, Nicaragua, the narco-cartel problem in Mexico, and the polarizing of politics in Colombia and Brazil. These discussions focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean will help to develop students’ ability to apply what they learn at SFS in a different social, political, and cultural context other than South Asia andMiddle East.
