Over the last couple of weeks our elementary Aquatics, Track and Field and Basketball teams have being working very hard in training and showing awesome progress while achieving some success too. Congratulations to Frederrikke Momme who won two gold medals within four days with a gold in the 50m freestyle at the DAPSA Swim Cup and gold in the DAPSA Aquathon series. What an awesome achievement! Well done to Adam Linder who picked up Bronze at the DAPSA Aquathon too! Also we are very proud of our first ever elementary competitive basketball team who played their first league games over the past week. We are confident that more positive results will start to turn-out with the awesome perseverance and dedication you are showing in games and practice. We are proud of all of our student-athletes who continuously reach beyond themselves.

Flying high with Science
The 4th graders went to iFly Dubai, Magic Planet, and Yalla Bowling, in Mirdif City Center. Students learned about the effects of force, gravity, and transfer of energy. This trip was a preview for their energy unit.
Students also learned about teamwork, peer support, and sportsmanship while flying and playing bowling. This is always an enjoyable field trip for us, as it is loaded with engaging and challenging activities.
The teachers also have a lot of fun, as you can see Mr. Fannin and Ms. Cook are in their element. From what we could tell, a good time was had by all.

GUS Junior Choir at the Choir
Fest Middle East
Junior choir ASA took a field trip this week to attend the Choir Fest Middle East where they were able to watch other students their age perform.
Student experiences include:
“My favorite part was watching Dubai British School perform the cup song.” -Elsie (3B)
“There were lots of schools that performed canons” -Ayla (4B)
“You can tell the choirs put in months of practice” -Wael (5A)
“It reminds me of the quote by Dr. Seuss: You don’t know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory”-Cara (5A)
I am glad our singers had the opportunity to watch these performances and hear feedback from the judges to hear some similar criteria we use in our rehearsals. These moments allow our singers to grasp a better understanding of the choral music culture to then transfer to their future performances.
