The recertification exam, while shorter than the original, still requires focus! It contains multiple-choice and performance-based questions. Here are a few reminders to help you succeed:
Review Your Work: For the performance-based questions, after you complete the task (e.g., set up a filter in Google Sheets), take a moment to verify that your final task meets all the requirements in the prompt!
Don't Forget to Submit: In the performance tasks, you must click the "Submit" or "Answer Completed" button after completing the task. If you navigate to the next question without submitting your work, your answer will not be counted.
Trust Your Gut: If you're unsure of a multiple-choice answer, use the process of elimination. The recertification exam primarily focuses on your ability to apply the tools, so think about the most efficient and practical method for a given scenario.
As you plan for your Google Educator Recertification (or first-time attempt!), here are some quick reminders to help you power up your prep:
Task Cards: Search for "Google Certified Educator Task Cards" online. These community-created resources offer hands-on practice for the performance-based questions, letting you master the tools in real-world scenarios. They are wonderful!
The Official Hub: The free Google for Education Teacher Center is your primary resource. Work through the Fundamentals (Level 1) or Advanced (Level 2) training courses to review all the core concepts and new features.
A Familiar Friend: Just like the first time, it is okay to use search/Google during the exam to look up quick facts or tool functions!
As we get ready for exams, here are a few quick reminders:
It’s okay to use search/Google during the exam. Just keep an eye on the clock so you don’t run out of time.
After you register, double-check that your exam is set to the correct time zone so you don’t miss your testing window.
Before you begin, carefully read the exam email instructions.
Make sure your Google Chrome browser is updated to the latest version.
Now that you're registered and have your free voucher, it's important to spend some time reviewing the exam format.
Google has provided a helpful resource: What to Expect on the Exams
The Google Certified Educator exams (Level 1 and Level 2) are both three-hour tests. The exams assess your mastery of Google for Education tools through a combination of elements: approximately 35 multiple-choice and drag-and-drop questions, and hands-on, scenario-based labs (NEW). The exam interface includes important features like time management, and the ability to review and reset your answers. The next tip is coming tomorrow—stay tuned!
Take advantage of this limited-time offer: The Level 1 and Level 2 Google Certified Educator exams are currently FREE OF CHARGE. Vouchers and fees have been waived.
We will cover recommended preparation courses in our upcoming Elf Tips. Just know that now is the perfect time to register while the exam is free!
