FAMILY READ ALOUD Find a comfortable space
outdoors to read a book. Enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of our island.
DESCRIPTIVE WRITING
Cut a picture from a newspaper or magazine. Dictate and write a sentence to describe what is happening in the picture.
REDUCE, REUSE, & RECYCLE
Reduce - make smaller or less in amount, degree, or size.
Reuse - use again or more than once.
Recycle - convert (waste) into reusable material.
COUNTING CHALLENGE
Step outside. Can you find objects that correspond to the numerals 1 to 10 (or more)? Ex: 1 tree, 2 cars, 3 flowers, etc.
EARTH DAY
Classify paper, plastic, and cans that can be recycled.
FLOAT YOUR BOAT
Design and create an aluminum foil boat. Fill it with objects (pennies, beads, etc.) to see how many objects it will hold before it sinks!
MARACAS
Fill an empty water bottle with rice, beads, sand, beans, etc. and seal it. Shake and listen to the rhythm.
FLOWER GARDEN
Use recyclable items (boxes, bottle caps, straws, paper, etc.) to create a flower garden portrait.
Play “Simon Says...”
Have each family member alternate saying “Simon Says...” (try funny or silly actions)
HIDE & SEEK
Gather ten small objects to hide in a designated space (living room, kitchen, or bedroom) and challenge your child to find them.
