About
In 2011, the Gowanda stage was transformed into a vibrant tropical landscape for our production of Once on this Island Jr. This Caribbean-flavored retelling of The Little Mermaid followed the journey of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who falls in love with a grand homme and strikes a deal with the island gods. Our students embraced the show’s rhythmic score and heartfelt storytelling, bringing a unique cultural flair to the auditorium.
The production was a masterclass in Creativity and movement. From the student-led choreography that channeled the energy of the island to the inventive use of props to represent the forces of nature, the cast and crew worked in total sync. The success of the show relied on deep Collaboration, as the ensemble acted as a unified storytelling force, shifting seamlessly between characters and spirits. It was a rhythmic and powerful performance that showcased the versatility and Panther Pride of our students. 💙
