About
In 1998, Gowanda took a nostalgic trip back to the era of early cinema with the production of When “Silents” Was Golden. This unique show celebrated the transition from silent films to "talkies," requiring our students to master the art of physical comedy, exaggerated expression, and the specific theatrical style of the early 20th century. It was a charming showcase of student Creativity, blending the magic of the silver screen with the energy of the live stage.
The production was a significant Collaborative effort, particularly as the cast and crew worked to create the "flicker" of old films and the slapstick humor that defined the era. Our performers demonstrated great versatility, moving between the heightened reality of silent movie stars and the grounded characters of the "modern" film industry. It was a creative and historic performance that highlighted the depth of talent and Panther Pride in the drama department. 💙
