About
In 1988, Gowanda took on a powerful and poignant story with the production of Freedom Bound. This historical musical journey explored the harrowing and hopeful path of the Underground Railroad, following those seeking freedom and the brave individuals who helped them along the way. It was a production that required a high level of maturity and emotional depth from our students, bringing a vital piece of American history to the local stage.
The show was a profound exercise in Collaboration and Communication. The cast worked together to portray the high stakes of the journey with respect and intensity, while the vocal arrangements emphasized the soul-stirring power of spirituals and folk music. It was a production that challenged the performers and moved the audience, standing as a testament to the department's commitment to storytelling that matters. This performance truly embodied the heart and Panther Pride of the Class of '88. 💙
