About
In 1987, the Gowanda stage became a majestic vessel on the mighty Mississippi for the production of Steamboatin’. This high-energy musical captured the spirit of riverboat life, blending folk traditions, lively choreography, and the Americana charm of the late 19th century. Our students took the audience on a journey downstream, filled with the sights and sounds of a bygone era, proving that the spirit of adventure was alive and well in the halls of Gowanda.
The production was a triumph of Creativity, particularly in the ambitious set design required to recreate the decks of a steamboat within the auditorium. It was a true "all-hands-on-deck" effort that relied on intense Collaboration between the cast and the stage crew to pull off the grand scale of the show. With its catchy tunes and spirited ensemble numbers, Steamboatin’ showcased the vibrant Panther Pride of the late 80s and left a lasting impression on everyone who climbed aboard. 💙
