About
In 1986, the Gowanda stage was transformed into a realm of enchantment and classic folklore for our production of Sleeping Beauty. This timeless story of a princess under a spinning-wheel curse and the heroic journey to wake her brought a touch of fairy-tale elegance to the community. Our students embraced the stylized movements and orchestral-inspired musical numbers, creating a performance that was as graceful as it was magical.
The production was a showcase of Creativity, particularly in the elaborate costumes for the fairies and the challenging task of staging the "thicket of thorns." Success relied on seamless Collaboration between the performers and the tech crew to execute the dramatic lighting and scene changes that defined the battle between good and evil. It was a regal performance that highlighted the talent and Panther Pride of the mid-80s, proving that even a forty-year-old story can still feel fresh on the Gowanda stage. 💙
