About
In 1978, Gowanda went "down the rabbit hole" with our production of Alice in Wonderland. This journey into the surreal and whimsical world of Lewis Carroll was a vibrant showcase of student talent, bringing the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts to life on the local stage. It was a production that leaned heavily into the "wonder" of theater, allowing our students to explore exaggerated characters and nonsensical fun that delighted audiences of all ages.
The show was a triumph of Creativity, particularly in the late-70s costume design and the clever use of staging to represent Alice’s changing size. Success depended on a high level of Collaboration, as the large ensemble cast had to maintain a chaotic yet controlled energy throughout the performance. It was a playful, imaginative achievement that showcased the enduring Panther Pride of the Class of ’78 and remains a cherished chapter in our musical history. 💙
