Languages: How to Connect A City

Proposal and Introduction:

One thing that most people know about New York City is how diverse the city is, but one major issue that comes from the amount of diversity in the city is communication between different areas and neighborhoods. There are many people in the city who only know a single language, and for a lot of people, that language is not English. I propose that if people learned a second or even third language, they would be able to communicate with the people and the city far better. For my IP10 project, I plan to show this theory by furthering my studies in Spanish, as well as learning Haitian.

Guiding Question:

How can people connect better by learning second and third languages? (Which I plan to prove by learning Spanish and Haitian)
