About the Project

What are the impacts of Puerto Rican baseball players on the island and the Puerto Rican community as a whole? This was the question I set upon for my March Madness Project. This interest stemmed from the intersectionality of two interests of mine. Baseball and Puerto Rico. As my family from my mother's side is from Puerto Rico I have always wanted to connect to my roots and learn more about the island as much as I can. I initially thought I could focus on just Puerto Rico, but the topic seemed too broad. That is how I landed on Puerto Rican baseball players. I decided to research their philanthropy that these Puerto Rican baseball players partake in because it is this philanthropy that ensures that those on all corners of the island are exposed to one of the nation's most famous pastimes.
