Thank you for joining us for Curriculum Night on Thursday evening. It was a pleasure to share information with you about our day in first grade. We look forward to helping your child develop a love for learning throughout our time together. We can't wait to see all the growth that the future holds. If you were unable to attend or have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.
Beginning of Year assessments are wrapping up. Your child's teacher will share assessment reports with families very soon. You will receive two reports:
mClass Home Connect (reading)
Aimsweb Student Score Snapshot (math)
Each report will outline how your child scored on each section of the test. Your child's teacher is more than happy to visit with you about assessments.
We love to recognize our students on their special day! Students may bring non-edible items to share with their classmates on their birthday (i.e. pencils, bouncy balls, erasers, stickers, etc). Due to allergies, we are unable to share any food items with classmates. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.
From time to students come across a "just in case" clothing situation during their day at school (i.e. spill at lunch, wet slide, muddy fall on the playground or accident). We would love your help preparing for a "just in case" clothing situation. Please place a baggie in your child's backpack with the following items:
1 pair of socks
1 pair of shorts or pants
1 shirt
1 pair of underwear
Please send your child's fully charged iPad and charger to school each day. You may find it helpful to label your child's charger and send it to school each day in his or her backpack just in case it is needed.
Your child is welcome to bring a water bottle labeled with his or her name to school each day.
Snack time occurs each afternoon. Please send a healthy snack to school each day (no chips or cookies, please).
We are looking for volunteers that are interested in helping first grade teachers prepare for schoolwide EXPERIENCE weeks. If you are interested in helping prepare hallway decorations or classroom items for EXPERIENCE weeks, please send an email to your child's teacher and fill out the GCISD Volunteer Background Check form linked below. We look forward to hearing from you!
