Our family picnic day is almost here! First grade families will picnic together on Thursday, October 19 from 10:40-11:40. The visitor check in table will be by the field on the right side of the school (near the baseball backstops). We will meet you on the field. There will be spirit shirts for sale in youth and adult sizes for $15 each (cash or check).
Important picnic reminders:
All attending adults need to have an approved GCISD Volunteer Background Check. Link: GCISD Volunteer Background Check
Use the following link to sign up for a Fast Pass (pre-printed visitor badge) Fall Picnic Past Pass Link
Please let your child's teacher know if you plan on attending. We will need to submit a list to check on background check approvals.
Bring a blanket or comfortable chairs for your family.
You are welcome to bring a lunch for your child.
Book Fair Information
The Literati Book Fair will be in the library next week Monday-Thursday, October 16-19. You can buy a gift card for your student, send cash, or shop with them during the family picnics or the Fall Festival. Please remember to add 8.25% to your total for tax.
To buy a gift card, go to this link and follow the steps. Once purchased, you can print your email, which will save time, or Mrs. Sporrer can look it up.
If you plan to attend school events such as class parties, family picnics, awards, grade level programs and more during the school year, you will need to complete a GCISD Volunteer Background Check. The background check and approval will be required at school events for all adults in attendance. The approval process takes several days. We highly recommend that you complete your background check soon. A new background check is required each school year. We have a grade level picnic scheduled for Thursday, October 19 from 10:40-11:40 and we want all of our first grade families to be cleared for attendance. The background check form is linked below.
Hooray for Fall
Temperatures are expected to be a bit cooler in the coming weeks. Weather permitting, our classes go outside for recess at 10:45 each day. You are welcome to send a light jacket, sweater or sweatshirt to school with your child on chilly days. Please label any outerwear with your child’s name. If your child misplaces an item, there is a Lost & Found located in the cafeteria. Please contact your child's teacher to allow your child time to check the Lost & Found for items that go missing.
