We will celebrate Veterans Day next Friday. First graders are invited to wear red, white and blue to school in honor of Veterans Day.
The first grade team is excited to announce that plans for our big field trip are underway! First graders will be going on a field trip to the Dallas World Aquarium on Wednesday, March 27. Each classroom will need several chaperones so we wanted to let you know in advance so you are able to plan accordingly. All chaperones will need to complete a GCISD Volunteer Background Check.
We will be investigating soil and natural resources during Science during the next two weeks. We would love for each of our students to bring a small ziploc baggie of soil to school for exploration. You may send garden soil, potting soil, sandy soil, etc. - we want to observe the properties of varied soil types. The soil sample may be from your yard or the store. Please send your soil sample to school on Wednesday, November 8.
We enjoyed seeing all the first grade smiles on the picture proof cards that were sent home this past week. If you are interested in ordering school pictures, check out the information on the card.
As temperatures cool down, the "just in case" clothes in your child's backpack may need to be updated to something warmer.
Remember to send your child's iPad to school fully charged each day.
First graders go to recess at 10:45 each morning. There are many days in which we have not reached the high temperature by our recess time. Jackets may be needed each day during recess time. Remember to label them with your child's name.
Are you looking for a way to contribute to your child's classroom? Check out the list below for ideas.
