Please send your child's backpack to school each day next week. Students will bring supplies home from their desks throughout the week. End Of Year assessment data will also be sent home in your child's folder sometime next week.
As the school year draws to a close, we've decided to add a but of fun to our remaining time together. Check out the schedule below:

Next Wednesday is GAME DAY in first grade! We plan to set a portion of our day aside for game time. Each first grade teacher would like to invite students to bring board games to school on Wednesday to play with friends. Be sure to label the game with your child's name in case multiple versions of the same game are brought to school.
Are you looking for ways to support your child's learning? Here are a few practice ideas that you may try at home during the summer months:
Set a summer reading goal
Read 20 minutes daily
Join the Summer Reading Club at the Grapevine Public Library
Read using the Kids A - Z app
Write about the beginning, middle or end of books read
Write a thank you note or friendly letter
Keep a summer journal
Math Practice apps
Zearn
IXL
Practice addition and subtraction facts to 20
Practice skip counting by 2, 5 and 10 to 120
Practice telling time to the hour and half hour
Practice identifying coins and their value
Count sets of like coins
Bake something together
Returning student registration is still open. Having an accurate headcount helps administration determine staffing needs on each grade level and student placement on class lists for the coming school year. If you have registration questions or need assistance, please let us know.
If your child is returning to Silver Lake for the 2024-2025 school year, registration opened in Skyward on Monday, April 8. Please contact Tyla Aguilar in the office with any questions. She can be reached at (817) 251-5661. The first class to have all students complete registration wins a PIZZA PARTY! All other classes will earn a popsicle party then the entire class has registered.
*If your child is not returning to Silver Lake next year, please let your child's teacher and the office know.
During our end of year assessment window, each first grade teacher administers reading and math assessments one on one with each student. When all assessments in your child's classroom are complete, reports will be printed and sent home. We look forward to sharing results with you.
School supplies for the 2024-2025 school year on now available for purchase online. They may be purchased now through Tuesday, May 21.
If your child needs to miss school, please report the absence to Tyla, Aguilar, our Student Data Secretary. She will code your child's absence for school record keeping purposes. You may report the absence by phone our email using the contact information below.

If you visit the doctor or dentist with your child and receive an office visit/return to school note, send it to school upon your child's return. Your child's teacher will be sure it gets delivered to the office for updating attendance records.
Every Friday is Spirit Day at Silver Lake! Students are encouraged to wear a blue, green or Silver Lake shirt each Friday. A classroom spirit count is collected each week. We would love our first grade classes to win the Spirit Stick to display in their classroom each week. Let's go, Shooting Stars!

School begins at 7:40 each morning
Lunch will be at 10:15 - 10:45
Recess will be at 10:45 - 11:15
First graders will go to Specials (PE, Music and Art) from 1:25-2:10
Walkers will be dismissed from the courtyard doors. Please carry your car tag so teachers are able to identify you quickly.
Car riders will be dismissed from the back of the school. Remember to display your child's car tag on the dashboard or in a front window if your child is a car rider.
