~Thank you for supporting and encouraging your first grader each day. We are so proud of each one of our sweet students and the hard work and effort they put forth each day.
We look forward to having you join us on Thursday evening for Curriculum Night. Two sessions are being offered and the same material will be covered during each (Session 1 is from 6:00-6:30pm, Session 2 is from 6:30-7:00pm). We hope you are able to join us in order to learn more about your child’s daily schedule and year in First Grade.
Thursday is library day in first grade. All classes will visit the library each week. Students will have a lesson or read aloud with with our fabulous librarian, Mrs. Sporrer, and then have the opportunity to select and check out library books. Please send library books back to school each Thursday so your child is able to select and check out books weekly.
Our fabulous first graders are having a blast interacting with friends during recess time! We would love to make recess time even more incredible with donations of the following items:
kickballs
soccer balls
basketballs
jump ropes
sidewalk chalk
nerf footballs
From time to students come across a "just in case" clothing situation during their day at school (i.e. spill at lunch, wet slide, muddy fall on the playground or accident). We would love your help preparing for a "just in case" clothing situation. Please place a baggie in your child's backpack with the following items:
1 pair of socks
1 pair of shorts or pants
1 shirt
1 pair of underwear
Please send your child's fully charged iPad and charger to school each day. You may find it helpful to label your child's charger and send it to school each day in his or her backpack just in case it is needed.
Your child is welcome to bring a water bottle labeled with his or her name to school each day.
Snack time occurs each afternoon. Please send a healthy snack to school each day (no chips or cookies, please).
We are looking for volunteers that are interested in helping first grade teachers prepare for schoolwide EXPERIENCE weeks. If you are interested in helping prepare hallway decorations or classroom items for EXPERIENCE weeks, please send an email to your child's teacher and fill out the GCISD Volunteer Background Check form linked below. We look forward to hearing from you!
