If your child is returning to Silver Lake for the 2024-2025 school year, registration opened in Skyward on Monday, April 8. Please contact Tyla Aguilar in the office with any questions. She can be reached at (817) 251-5661. The first class to have all students complete registration wins a PIZZA PARTY! All other classes will earn a popsicle party then the entire class has registered.
*If your child is not returning to Silver Lake next year, please let your child's teacher and the office know.
Field Day is next Friday! We are looking forward to having families on campus to cheer us on during each of our events. First grade events are scheduled to begin at 8:30 and we will be finished up by 12:00. You are welcome to check your first grader out with his or her teacher once our events are complete and start your weekend early. Each first grade teacher will have a sign out sheet for her own class. Please keep in mind that students will only be check out to his or her parents. We are unable to check students out to parents of a friend (only emergency contacts).
Here are some ways to prepare for the big day:
wear tennis shoes and socks
send a water bottle labeled with your child's name
apply sunscreen as needed before school
wear a hat, if desired
shorts and short sleeves may be more comfortable since we will be spending time outside
apply bug spray as needed
consider putting long hair in a ponytail or braids to help stay cool
Field Day is scheduled for Friday, April 26. We would love for you to come cheer us on! All adults planning to attend field day events on campus must Raptor in through the office. If you would like to avoid lines on field day morning, use the link below and the front off will pre-print the badge you will wear throughout the event.

Field Day is scheduled for April 26. Coach Bivin is in need of five tricycles for a Field Day Event. If you have a tricycle that you are able to donate or let the school borrow for the day, please contact Coach Bivin. Her email address is: cynnara.bivin@gcisd.net
End of Year reading assessments will begin at the end of April. In order to prepare for success, please continue to practice reading homework books for at least 20 minutes each evening.

If your child needs to miss school, please report the absence to Tyla, Aguilar, our Student Data Secretary. She will code your child's absence for school record keeping purposes. You may report the absence by phone our email using the contact information below.

If you visit the doctor or dentist with your child and receive an office visit/return to school note, send it to school upon your child's return. Your child's teacher will be sure it gets delivered to the office for updating attendance records.
Every Friday is Spirit Day at Silver Lake! Students are encouraged to wear a blue, green or Silver Lake shirt each Friday. A classroom spirit count is collected each week. We would love our first grade classes to win the Spirit Stick to display in their classroom each week. Let's go, Shooting Stars!
Read homework books nightly
Record minutes spent reading on the Read Across Texas recording sheet
Math homework is due each Friday
Return library books each Thursday
Send a fully charged iPad to school each day
Send a healthy snack to school each day
Place "just in case" clothing in your child's backpack

School begins at 7:40 each morning
Lunch will be at 10:15 - 10:45
Recess will be at 10:45 - 11:15
First graders will go to Specials (PE, Music and Art) from 1:25-2:10
Walkers will be dismissed from the courtyard doors. Please carry your car tag so teachers are able to identify you quickly.
Car riders will be dismissed from the back of the school. Remember to display your child's car tag on the dashboard or in a front window if your child is a car rider.
