ESL World Geography

Prerequisite: Participation in ESL Programs; Rated Beginning or Intermediate on TELPAS or on LAS Links and/or are newcomers to US schools.

The ESL section of this course is delivered using Sheltered English strategies and is limited in enrollment to students being served in the ESL program and are: rated beginning or intermediate on TELPAS or on LAS Links and/or are newcomers to US schools.

In World Geography, students will examine people, places, and environments at local, regional, national, and international levels from a geographic perspective. Topics of study will include will include aspects of physical, economic and cultural geography. Students will describe the influence of geography on events of the past and present with emphasis on contemporary issues. Problem-solving and decision-making skills are developed as students learn how to ask and answer geographic questions.
