AP Modern World History is an Advanced Placement course that can substitute for World History or Pre-AP World History and is equivalent to an introductory college-level course. The course is designed to incorporate the study of grade-level ancient world history standards in addition to a deeper, more complex study of modern world history. In AP Modern World History, students will investigate significant events, individuals, developments, and processes in world history. Throughout the course, students will develop and use the same skills, practices, and methods employed by historians. The course centers around five themes that students will explore as they make connections among historical developments in different times and places. This course will prepare students to take the AP Modern World History exam, which may allow them to qualify for college credit.
