to complete a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences – Fitness Wellness on the Glendale Community College campus.
If you are interested in a career in the fitness, health and wellness industry, this is an ideal program for you. This program
prepares you for NAU’s Master of Science in Athletic Training or Doctor of Physical Therapy, and it is accredited by the
Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org).
Earn your associate degree at GCC, then transfer to NAU. The curriculum incorporates topics such as health coaching skills, stress management, strength training, health risk appraisal, fitness assessment, nutrition and wellness, and exercise program design.

Online, In-Person, and Hybrid Courses Available!
The GCC Fitness & Wellness Department offers Online, Live Online and Hybrid Classes.
Some of our courses allow you to choose which format of course you want to take. Other courses are taught only in a single format in order for faculty to meet the learning objectives and have time to create the best experience possible for students. You can find all of our EXS, HES, PED, REC, and WED classes on Find-a-Class.
Just like in-person and hybrid classes, online classes include textbook readings, homework assignments & activities, and quizzes & exams that are due on a regular basis throughout the semester. Where online classes differ from in-person classes is how "lecture" is provided and how students interact with one another and their professor.
All classes use the Canvas learning management system, which is provided to all students. Access it here in your browser or download the app for iPhone or Android.
Online
Lecture is provided through a combination of recordings and readings.
Students interact through discussion boards, online activities, group work, email or other conversations with their classmates and professor.
Students meet online with no required live videoconference meetings, although live meetings may be optional.
The advantages of online include: maximum flexibility to work at times that are best for you, adaptable to work or family schedule changes during the semester, easier for those who share bandwidth or computer resources.
Hybrid
Hybrid classes meet on campus in a safe and sanitized environment.
Students interact in-person at the scheduled class times and complete online activities and assignments
The advantages of hybrid classes include: in-person labs and experiences, a reliable schedule to support time management, some flexibility for online task completion, enhanced opportunities to engage interactively with classmates.
