EXTRA READING SESSIONS FOR 1C STUDENTS
Background
The Extra Reading Sessions were designed to provide additional learning support for 1C students who demonstrated the need for more focused reading practice. Recognizing that students progress at different rates, the initiative aimed to strengthen their reading fluency, comprehension, and confidence through small-group and guided reading sessions. These sessions were conducted outside regular class hours to ensure individualized attention and consistent monitoring of each child’s progress.
Impact
Through the implementation of these extra catch-up sessions, students who initially struggled with reading showed notable improvement in word recognition, sentence construction, and overall comprehension. Several students were able to reach the expected reading proficiency level, allowing them to move or be promoted to the next grade with stronger foundational skills. The initiative also fostered a sense of achievement and confidence among learners, reinforcing the importance of early literacy intervention and continuous support for struggling readers.
