The College Reading Center serves as the reading laboratory of the SRA in reading program of the Ateneo de Naga University.
The SRA in Reading Program is a support program that helps students achieve the needed skills and competencies in reading. The implementation of such program entails the use of reading materials which primarily composes the reading laboratory.
An SRA teacher and a student assistant help carry out the reading program. With these, there are policies, guidelines and protocols in the use of the College Reading Center as a reading laboratory.
Goals
To cultivate a genuine passion for reading by demonstrating its critical role in enhancing academic proficiency, fostering intellectual curiosity, and developing the analytical skills necessary for success in future professional and personal endeavors. In pursuit of this objective, the program will actively:
Enhance Core Literacy: Develop comprehensive reading skills—both literal and inferential—while working to naturally improve reading rate.
Target Individual Needs: Provide reinforcement on specific skills in which students may show a weakness, like vocabulary, word analysis, or study skills.
Foster Independence & Accountability: Provide practice in independent work to build self-reliance and encourage a strong sense of personal responsibility.
Build Communication & Confidence: Exercise active listening during listening activities, and consistently affirm personal achievement thru the accomplished self paced activities.
