CHSS LECTURE SERIES
Background
Mr. Dhomar O. Noveno, MAEd, LPT, presented his thesis titled “Identifying Challenges and Factors Affecting the Development of the Reading Comprehension of Undergraduate Students Undergoing the College Online Reading Program of Ateneo de Naga University.” The lecture aimed to share insights from his research, which explored the existing challenges and factors influencing students’ reading comprehension and performance. This session provided an avenue for students to understand the complexities of reading development in the college setting, especially within the context of online learning.
Impact
The lecture-talk deepened the participants’ awareness of the various issues affecting reading comprehension among college students. Graduating students of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences engaged in meaningful discussions about their experiences and challenges, and were able to raise questions and reflections related to the study’s findings. The session not only enhanced their understanding of reading as an academic skill but also encouraged them to become more reflective and proactive in improving their own reading strategies and learning habits.
