Communication Support Worker (CSW) & ALS Additional Learning Support tutors who can adopt communication and sensory support strategies including:
Using BSL -British Sign language/SSE Sign Supported English
Voicing over
Note taking
Modify language to plain English from handouts & resources
Liaising with Curriculum staff
Help with Access Arrangements for exams-CSW / Modified language papers
Helping a Deaf or HI student to integrate with their hearing peers
Promote Deaf Awareness in the learning environment
1:1 ALS Tutorials when needed
Specialist Software available including NVDA – Non Visual Desktop Access - https://www.nvaccess.org/ - Reads all text output for learner who can use head phones to avoid distractions to other learners
