The college has a range of software available in college to support all students reach their potential.
There are accessibility tools to help all students. We all have different ways we like to learn.
Read Aloud Software
ClaroRead is a simple, easy-to-use software program that helps you to read, write, study and increase your confidence. You can read any on-screen text out loud and improve your writing.
Claroread software is available on PCs in college and supports reading and writing.
At home ClaroRead Extension is available to all GBMC students. (If it does not appear on your toolbar) make sure you are using the Chrome browser, sign into your Google GBMC Student account and navigate to the Chrome Web Store.
Chrome Extensions
The college uses the Google for Education apps to support learning and we recommend use of the Chrome Browser. Here are a selection of Chrome Extensions to support web accessibility.
Reads text on page (available to all GBMC students when logged into their College Google Account)

How to use Claroread Chrome Extension
To open - click on Claroread extension and the ClaroRead toolbar will appear
Click in a web page or PDF file or Google Docs document, then click the Play button. ClaroRead will read back the text from that point with highlighting so you can follow along.
Or just select some text and it will be read out for you.
Screen Tint
Click on Settings Cog and Extras for screen tint option.
Change the font of a website to open dyslexic font which some users find easier to read.
Change or invert the colour scheme to make web pages easier to read.
Change font settings and size of spacing on the webpage.
Grammarly helps you correct spelling and grammar in most of your online activities.
View definitions easily as you browse the web.

Increasing the Text Size
If you find the text on a webpage is too small, you can change it easily in your browser settings. It is recommended that you use Chrome for college work.
Google Chrome
Hold down CTRL button on keyboard and press + (plus) key
Repeat until text is set to size you want
To make text smaller press CTRL on keyboard and - (minus) key
To return text to normal size press CTRL + 0
Apple Safari
Hold down APPLE key and press + (plus) key
Repeat until text is set to size you want
To make text smaller press APPLE key on keyboard and press - (minus) key
Accessibility Settings for your Device
ScreenReader
NVDA is a free screen reader software designed for the visually impaired. Available on all college computers and can be downloaded for free at home.
In college go to Start - NVDA
