Summer Arts Academy

Showcase Performance: Friday, June 28th @ 6:30pm

Registration Fee: $120 per student

Registration is currently at full capacity. We are looking at ways to increase capacity, so if you are interested please fill out the waitlist below! Once spots become available, we will reach out to you.

**Financial assistance may be available for qualifying students through the Education Benefits application (formerly free and reduced lunch eligibility). Please contact Steve Simmons, at ssimmons@gbcs.org if you need assistance and think you may qualify.

What is the Summer Arts Academy?

Current 2nd-5th grade students from all across the Grand Blanc community will come together to spend 2 weeks learning, creating, and performing through the arts! Each day students will rotate between 5 arts classes including: Choir, Marimba Band, Theater, Visual Art, and an Instrument Exploration class. A final showcase performance will be held on Friday, June 28th @ 6:30pm at Mason Elementary to allow students the opportunity to perform what they've worked on for friends and family!

VISUAL ART

with Mrs. Peters, Mrs. Wise, &
Ms. Huggler

Students will create art projects where they can communicate ideas, thoughts, and feelings through their artwork.

MARIMBA BAND

with Mr. Simmons & Mr. Horn

Students will learn individual parts on a marimba and work with each other to put the parts together for a fun marimba tune.

CHOIR

with Mr. Cort & Mr. Smith

Students will learn vocal techniques to improve their singing and work on listening and blending their voice within an ensemble.

MUSIC THEATER

with Mrs. Wilkerson & Mrs. Smith

Students will build confidence, work as a team, and have fun as they discover the magical world of musical theater, where every kids' star can shine bright!

Instrument Exploration

Students will learn about different band and orchestra instruments and will have the opportunity to hear, see, and play them!
