i3 Monthly Update

Personalized Learning

Commonly Used Personalized Learning Tech Tools

This month’s focus on “Personalized Learning” highlights the importance of designing learning opportunities that address varied learner needs and preferences and prompt teachers to create opportunities for students to personalize their learning.

Three pathways for personalized learning are Visual, Auditory/ Verbal, and Tactile.

Visual Learning

Visual learning encompasses choices for students that like to explain by seeing and demonstrating. Choices for this can include design apps that allow working with posters or collages and ways to image share. This can also include video app choices for modeling or organization apps for brainstorming.

Auditory/ Verbal Learning

Auditory learning is a style of learning in which an individual learns most efficiently through hearing and listening. Auditory learners retain information better when it is delivered through sound or speech rather than written form.

Verbal learners learn best through the words they hear as opposed to just hearing in general which is how auditory learners best learn.

Tactile Learning

Kinesthetic or tactile learners need to physically touch or try something in order to learn the concept best. This style is often called multi-sensory learning because tactile learners hear or see to learn, and then complete their learning by trying it out themselves.

Resources for Tactile Learning include:
