Every Utah public school has a school community council consisting of the principal, an elected school employee, and a majority of elected parents. All meetings are open to the public and parents or guardians are invited to attend School Community Council meetings. Meeting agendas are posted on this website one week prior to each meeting.
Serving on our School Community Council is a wonderful way for parents and teachers to contribute and help improve academic performance at our school. The school receives an annual dividend from the school trust lands. Our council decides how these funds will be used. The council reviews and prepares other academic plans for our students each year. All plans are reviewed for final approval by our school board. Councils also act in an advisory capacity to school and school district administrations. If you are interested in serving as a member of the School Community Council, please contact the school principal.
To learn more about community councils, visit the School Land Trust website.
In our Community Council Meetings we discuss:
School Programs & District Programs
Safe Routes to School
Internet Filtering at School
Safe Technology Use and Digital Citizenship
School and District Safety Principles
Elections are held each year in September
Dear Parents,
I would like to invite you to add your name to the list of candidates on the ballot for the election of the new community council positions for the 2025/2026 school year.
Council members play an important role in the decision-making process at our schools. Council discussions have a major impact on the use of funds and on improvement in our schools. Council members are asked to serve on screening and hiring committees as positions are filled in our schools.
Parents have found that serving on the School Community Council gives them a voice in discussing ways to support the teachers and students in the complex process of providing a quality education.
Parents will sit in council with faculty and staff members to make these important decisions.
The council member terms are two year terms and are set so that about half of the council is up for election each year.
Thank you,
Mrs. Breinholt
