9-Tale is a turn-based, stratagy card game based on Japanese mythology and culture. The goal is to use your cards and their abilities to survive and beat your opponent.
The story takes place in a mordernised version of the spirit realm, with the player suddenly appearing on the outskirts of one of the many towns in the realm. Meeting Yiyi who explains it's common for humans to end up in the spirit realm and, while some do get out, it is very rare. She then introduces the player to one of the realms old traditions in the form of a card game.
The character you play as through the whole of the game, a human lost within the spirit real, learning the realms traditonal card game. The details are left lacking to let you, the player, fill themselves in.
The first opponent and your first allie in the spirit realm. In the spirit realm, time and traditions from the mortal realm blend into theres, allowing for new ideas and cultures to come in, such as punk which this Oni has come to enjoy very much, adapting it into her style. Despite the slight intimidating style, she is kind at heart.
The deck takes on 3 major elements of the realm: Nature, Spirit and Demonic. Each of which giving their unique abilities to a battle.
Nature - deals 20 damage per hit
Demonic - deals 15 damage per hit and deals a curse effect which deals 5 hits every turn
Spirit - Protects the player from taking damage for 1 turn
