The Center for the Advancement of Reading and Literacy Instruction is a collaborative approach engaged in pre-service teacher instruction in reading and literacy grounded in the Science of Reading and evidence-based approaches to instruction. Using a formative experiment as its design, the Center examines the efficacy of targeted-intensive tutoring in reading in PK-3 classrooms provided by pre-service teachers on both PK-3 students and pre-service teachers.
Through our work with pre-service teachers and PK-3 students in our schools, we have developed instructional materials for pre-service teachers serving as targeted intensive tutors in classrooms. This site shares materials used in instruction with pre-service teachers and the materials the pre-service teachers use in their tutoring, with videos where available to demonstrate the use of the instructional materials.
