Dear Families,
I hope your child is enjoying 5th grade! We had a great three days of community building, creating class agreements, and getting to know each other. Please ask your child to fill you in on the details of our activities. They are such a kind, unique, and fun group of students. I know this is going to be an awesome year!
Math: Homework packets are going home on Monday and we have our first assignment. I will discuss homework more at Curriculum Night, but please see weekly calendar below for the assigned pages for next week. Students will also write the weekly assignments each Monday on a homework log that will live in the black “Take Home Folder” in their backpack. Math Homework Weekly Calendar. Homework packets will stay at home until the end of the unit. Here is the link to the answer key for Unit 1: Unit 1 Answer Key
Reading: Read for a minimum of 2 hours per week and fill out the reading log. The September reading log will also go home on Monday and will live in the black “Take Home Folder” in their backpack.
Our Curriculum Night/Outdoor School Meeting is Tuesday, September 16 from 5:30-6:30. We will meet in my classroom at 5:30 for a 30-minute curriculum meeting and then we will go to the gym for our Outdoor School meeting at 6:00. For those of you who are new to Miller, our fifth graders get to attend outdoor school at Camp Tamarack. It is a three-day, two-night experience scheduled for Oct. 13-15. The director of Camp Tamarack will be at the meeting to share information and you will have an opportunity to ask questions.
Have a lovely weekend!
Warmly,
Kenan
