Dear Families,
It was great to see many of you at Curriculum Night. If you were unable to make it or would like to review anything, here is my presentation and the Outdoor School presentation:
Macomber Back to School Night 2025
We are looking for parent chaperones to serve as cabin leaders for this year’s trip. This will be a working trip, and you will be staying in the cabins with students and assisting throughout. If you are the same gender as your child and would like to be placed in the same cabin, I will do my best to accommodate that. If you’re interested in volunteering, please let me know. If multiple people volunteer, I will randomly select a name. Thank you for your support!
Outdoor School permission slips will be sent home with your child on Monday. Please fill out/sign and return the 4 pink forms no later than October 4. Thank you. Paperwork with the packing list and expectations will be sent home at a later date.
Does your child consistently perform above grade level in math, seek out challenging math on their own, and work well independently? If so, we can discuss having them tested to see if they qualify to do online 6th grade math this year. The 6th grade online curriculum would be done primarily at home on their own time so it would need to fit into your family schedule to allow for it. If this is of interest to you, please reach out to me to discuss.
I will be using Seesaw as an online portfolio to help you stay connected to your student’s learning. Thank you for signing up. I will also keep a binder portfolio in the classroom that I will share with you during conferences and send home at the end of the school year. Please sign up for Seesaw with this link: Seesaw invite link

If there is an absence, email the school or call the office (541-355-2500) and email me. If your child is sick, contact the school & me each day they are absent (if you don’t contact us each day then your child will be marked absent unexcused). If it is a prearranged absence (trip etc.), we will excuse them for all the days they will be absent. I can’t excuse a student if they tell me they will be absent.
All Friday Check-ins are archived on my classroom website under “Newsletters” Macomber Class Website
Please be on time ~ Morning Meeting starts at 7:45 a.m. and sets the tone for the day.
If you need to pick your child up early from school, please send me an email the night before letting me know what time you will be picking them up. I will have them ready and waiting for you in the office at your requested time.
If there is a last-minute change in plans for student pick-up, please call the office. I may not have the opportunity to check my email if it is a last-minute change.
Have a great weekend!
Warmly,
Kenan
