National Tsing Hua University is known for its science-related programs, but it wasn’t until recent years that the College of Technology Management, the Department of Quantitative Finance, as well as the Graduate Program of Quantitative Finance, was founded. Despite their relatively short history, they have been highly regarded for the study of Finance and Financial Engineering are one of the fastest-growing industries, with severe talent shortage and rising demand for professionals.

Our department has managed to utilize our constrained resources and has made efforts to develop into a leading repository of Quantitative Finance study in Taiwan. Today, our Department has 17 full-time professors (8 Professors, 8 Associate Professors and 1 Assistant Professor) and 9 adjunct professors (3 Professors , 1 Associate Professor and 5 Assistant Professors) . Our Financial Engineering Lab, equipped with databases such as Bloomberg, serves as the focal point for our research and leverages our existing strengths in the study of Quantitative Finance.

With the cooperation of the high-tech industry in Hsinchu County, our department has sharpened our strategies to strengthen frontier research in critical areas, including Enterprise Risk Management and Corporate Financing of High-tech Industries, Financial Analysis of Large-scale Investment Plans, Venture Capital, and Intangible Assets Pricing. To raise competitiveness and the translational potential for industry, we’d like to remain nimble and adaptable for currents and continue to expand and advance our research in emerging fields such as financial innovation and big-data analytics, which set us apart from other departments of finance. Our department continues to enhance research quality by purchasing and constructing more databases and fostering international research collaboration, in hopes of enhancing entrepreneurial incubation and increasing recognition in the international community.
