Generative AI can be used not only to generate written content, but also to create multimedia elements to illustrate concepts and ideas. This is especially useful when creating mockups or supporting imagery to showcase ideas effectively in presentations, discussions, etc. It is important to note that proper attribution is essential when incorporating AI-generated images and videos into work, and this should serve as a supplementary tool to visually aid presentation, rather than the work being the main component of your assessment.
Please check and follow your local guidelines about whether this use of generative AI is permitted. If it is permitted and if you use this prompt in the process of creating work for assessment, you may need to acknowldge the use of ai.
Firefly is one of the newest software developed by Adobe that enables users to generate artistic images using prompts. There are different ways to refine your prompts to generate accurate image representations of your ideas. This structure for prompting should also work in other AI-powered image generation tools including DALL-E 3 which can be accessed via Microsoft Copilot for Web (see below).
Below are several examples of how different prompts affect the outcome of the generated image:
Simple prompt with a subject
"Quokka"
Add a scenario - add details such as emotions and sceneries
"Happy quokka chilling under the trees"
Use quotation markers around elements you want to add.
You can also define an art style you would like the image to be generated (e.g: vector image, sketch, minimalist, cubism, etc)
"Vector Image" "Happy quokka chilling under the trees" "Sunset"
Use [avoid=<insert what you want to take out>] to exclude elements from the design
"Vector Image" "Happy quokka chilling under the trees" "Sunset" [avoid=purple]
The generative AI models used in Adobe Firefly are trained using datasets from Adobe Stock, which contains licensed contents such as photographs, illustrations, audio and video templates that are not available in public domain. For more information on Adobe's legal policies in using AI please visit this page.
DALL-E is developed by OpenAI and can also generate images from prompts. Contrary to Adobe Firefly which trains its AI models from copyrighted images available in its platform, DALL-E uses text image pairing datasets from publicly available sources to ensure matches between visual and text prompts. DALL-E is accessible via Microsoft Copilot for Web, where entering a specific prompt results in the generation of images rather than text responses.
