Fundamentals of Additive Manufacturing

The propose course aim to provide educational platform on the new technology i.e. additive manufacturing. The package to be covered in the course provides an overview of fundamentals of AM techniques with the scope and applications of different AM techniques in the respective fields. The course is act as a bridge between industry and educational institutes. The course is targeted for Academician / Industrial person and it is hoped that a better understanding of the underlying principles, gained by the participants will also improve the understanding of the staff members in their organization and ultimately lead to decrement of the gap between education and industrial curriculum.

The program covers fundamental topics of additive manufacturing such as – additive manufacturing introduction, differentiate additive manufacturing from traditional manufacturing, steps of additive manufacturing, computer design modeling, Stereolithography (STL), slicing of the .STL file, different types of additive manufacturing techniques, scopes and applications of additive manufacturing techniques, errors in additive manufacturing parts.

All the participants will learn about the latest manufacturing technique i.e. additive manufacturing and practices in the area of engineering which will ultimately enhance their design and production skills to reduce the time overrun and cost overrun in construction of any product. Participants will also get the hands on practice/ online practice during the programme to build up the confidence on the same area.

Participants will get a chance to lead the industries by introducing additive manufacturing in their respective firm and to help the organization to minimize production time and cost overrun at the same time ensuring the quality
