Galway Connect
The Galway Connect project, which launched in 2018, has been awarded the service excellence award by the Department of Education at the Emerald Business and Social Partners awards ceremony. This initiative exemplifies the positive impact of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in the education sector, as highlighted by emerging research. The underlying premise is that private entities, through resource sharing, can significantly enhance community development and the quality of education. By leveraging their expertise in areas such as finance, management, and legal affairs, private organizations like Macsteel can make substantial contributions to educational institutions.
Macsteel's collaboration with Galway Primary School in Dilville, Germiston, for the Galway Connect project, underscores this approach. The project has become a model of success and is now celebrated for its achievements. Galway Connect is just one of many educational initiatives supported by Macsteel, yet it stands out for its remarkable impact and recognition.
The main objectives are to offer support and skills development for educators, foster connections among the school’s stakeholders, and ensure that the basic needs of learners are fulfilled. Koos Pretorius, the principal of Galway Primary, commended Macsteel and their project management partner, People Dynamics, for their efforts.
