Overview of Grade R: Curriculum and Reports

The South African Department of Basic Education introduced the Foundations for Learning Assessment Framework for Grade R. This framework aids teachers in planning and assessing learners' progress, emphasizing key skills and milestones and guiding what learners should achieve throughout the year.

Grade R is a preparatory stage for formal education, where children develop social skills, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of routines in a nurturing environment. The curriculum emphasizes play-based learning, which promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development, laying a solid foundation for future learning as children explore their environment and build character.

Grade R worksheets play a significant role by reinforcing the curriculum's learning outcomes, engaging diverse learners, monitoring progress, assessing understanding, and encouraging independent thinking and problem-solving. These well-designed worksheets also save teachers time and effort in lesson planning.

Curriculum:

In Grade R, learners are introduced to the following subjects: English, Mathematics and Life Orientation. The academic year is divided into four terms, with one assessment conducted for each term. It is essential for learners to pass these assessments each term to progress, ensuring they grasp the foundational knowledge taught throughout the year. Our objective is to make education both engaging and informative, fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes both fun and academic success.

Reports:

Our reports are issued at the end of each term, typically two days or the day before the last day of the term. Additionally, parents can access the reports on the d6 app as soon as they are released. This system ensures that parents are kept informed about their child's progress and achievements throughout the academic year.
