Student Expectations for Tutoring
1. Please note that all communication should take place through your Gallaudet email account. You are expected to check your email daily and respond accordingly to any messages received. It is important to only email or text your tutor for matters related to your scheduled tutoring appointment, such as if you will be late.
2. Please avoid scheduling a tutoring appointment during your class time as the tutor/coach is unable to assist students during their scheduled class time.
3. You will diligently adhere to all academic integrity policies. Gallaudet University policy on plagiarism, the tutor/coach is permitted only to work on similar practice problems and must never support a student turning in any work that is not theirs. The tutor/coach will not assist with quizzes or exams without permission from the instructor.
4. Notify a staff member in the Tutoring Center office immediately if any of the following occur:
a. If there is a reason to believe there may be an ethical or legal concern related to tutoring.
b. If the tutoring sessions are not proceeding satisfactorily, come to the One Stop Service Center at the Sorenson Language and Communication Center (SLCC) office and talk to the Tutoring Support Specialist about the problem.
5. If you are unable to attend a scheduled tutoring session, you have two options: you may either send an email at least 24 hours before the scheduled session or cancel the appointment via Zoom One.
a. If you miss any (3) appointments, you will not be permitted to make any appointments for one week after the third missed appointment.
b. If you need to cancel your appointment 24 hours before it starts to avoid a "no show" penalty unless there are unforeseen circumstances.
6. Please understand that you are accountable for your own education and academic achievements.
