Wifi Connectivity Issues

Check your home connection

Some Issues can arise from your connectivity at home.

  1. Check your home signal - Click on Wifi > In the systems menu make sure you signal reads Medium, Good or Excellent. If necessary move closer to the Home Internet Wireless access point or Wireless Router.

  2. Check your Home Internet Speed - From your Chromebook, close all other tabs and programs. Shutdown or stop any other devices from streaming music, or video or other internet traffic. Ideally your Chromebook should be the only item accessing the internet during this test

Follow the steps outlined on this document: Home Internet Speed Test

Your internet connection should have enough bandwidth to support 5mbps Download and 2mbps upload per device

Authenticate your Chromebook

Your Chromebook needs to sign into the network every 8 hours. If you power down your Chromebook at night and again at the end of the school day it will automatically authenticate when you sign again.

Use the HCSD Bookmarks folder to force your Chromebook to Authenticate daily

  • Go to HCSD Bookmarks in the upper right of Chrome

  • Click Web Authentication
