Schoology Course Template Training

• Automatically created courses for each class/subject that is tied to ESP/Master Schedule will not appear and populate with students until after school begins.

...Until then, plan good lessons, and create your course content in the Schoology Sandbox that you created. It will just take a couple of minutes to copy it over to the class/subject courses once they are available.

Note: You may also create course content in the resources section of Schoology, but we have found that using a course sandbox works best.

• Due dates in Schoology do not have any impact on whether an item is published or not, or whether it allows submissions or not.

...Due dates will show up in the course calendar, will appear on the students calendar, and will allow the system to show you when a student's submission is late, and are important when syncing grades with ESP. Due dates should always be set for days that school is in session. If not, they will cause problems with Schoology grade sync.

• Schoology will not allow you to set due dates and have student completion rules in place at the same time.

...While there are a couple of workarounds out there, none are sanctioned by Schoology, and they often cause frustration.
