Title: how will I (ever)
Holding one’s home in one’s heart. Wearing one’s home in a nightgown without sleeves. I embed myself in this house, in this structure. I embed House unto me (or does House embed itself unto me?). Inspired in part by Stan Brakhage’s piece Comingled Containers, Ralph Meatyard’s photography and a few compelling holistic and spiritual traditions, this film speaks from a transitional space in my life (one filled with deep sadness and curiosity about joy). Using odd timing and ridiculous dream-like gestures this performance based film reflects on the time from the lockdown in 2020 (when I moved into this house) to today. I perform an investigation of: the house itself, a listing of the books I read (in whole or part) during this time, the awkwardness of my body, the humor in the ordinary, the sorrow of disorientation, the will to find my way.
