Lauren Kelly is an Irish neurodiverse conceptual performance artist who works solo and also within a socially engaged context. Her work is based around body politics and activism. Using the unlimited landscape of performance art to vocalise politics with rationality to the oppressed states of the body. Her subject matters are intensely researched as she believes it roots the work historically, politically and personally. Working closely with other researchers, archivists and activists. Title: The Journey of The Anti Saint
The Journey of The Anti Saint is a short performance based film exploring the a performance persona. Working with two personas in one, one part is autistic and the second part of the persona is imagining a new hierarchy figure. Interest is held in the role of Sacred, Folklore and Political history. Working to reclaim spaces that women are underrepresented within and oppressed. Also inspired by the Cumman na mBan –an Irish republican women’s paramilitary organisation from 1916. The Journey of The Anti Saint has manifested into more than the personas but into the world of the Anti Saint, a new transgressive figure in their own ritualistic world. Taking on shamanistic and mystical qualities the work is both personal and political.
