Emily Welther

Born in Arizona and raised in Vermont, USA, Emily Welther holds degrees in Drama from the Experimental Theater Wing of New York University and in Dance from the European Dance Development Center, Arnhem, the Netherlands. She completed her Master of Performance Practices at ArtEZ in September 2021. Since moving to Cologne in 2004, Emily has worked extensively as a dancer/performer in the freelance scene. She has participated in two Venice International Performance Art Week’s Performance Operas with VestAndPage and international artists. Receiving funding from Fonds Darstellende Künste, she continued her experiments with live and digital performance art, sound compositions and vocal experiments. In her recent work with Irina Baldini, she has further developed her vocal explorations within a surround sound system, while looking at audible, visual, and kinaesthetic ways of listening.
