Meet Crystal

Crystal Robertson (she/hers) is a Political Science PhD candidate at the University of California, Los Angeles.  Her research examines the role of social identities and their intersections in public opinion of social movements. More broadly her research interests include racial politics, Black-Latinx inter-group relations, intersectionality, Black feminist politics, and social movements. 

Her dissertation focuses on the experiences of activist with multiple marginalized (intersectional) identities leading social justice movements. Crystal explores the discrimination these intersectional activists face while leading and how this influences movement's political agenda's.  


Crystal has published research in the American Political Science Review, Political Behavior, and Routledge Press. Her research has been supported by the UCLA Race and Ethnicity in Politics and Society Lab, and the Center for American Politics and Policy.
