Gothic Lit - 20-21

Week of May 24-28. Rebecca - graded on notes taken as we watch showing how it is gothic lit.

Week of May 10-21. Monday - finish "Knives Out" and do worksheet. Tues - "Deathly Hallows." quiz on Thursday. Test when finished.

Week of May 3-7. "Mile 81." short story. There will be worksheets as we listen to the story.

Week of April 26-30. "Woman In Black." Paper on how it is gothic lit when done - due Friday.

Week of April 1--23. Watch "The Others." Test when done. Read "The Monkey's Paw" - do questions.

Week of April 12-16. Mon - Tues - finish "Jekyll and Hyde." Do worksheet. Wed - Thur "Replacements." worksheet

Week of April 5-9. Mon - Paper for "Birdbox." Tues and Wed - "The Hanging Stranger." questions after. Thur - Fri - "Popular Mechanics." questions.

Week of March 29-Apr. 1. Mon - finish "Graveyard Book". Tues -

Week of March 23-26. We should finish "The Graveyard Book" Thursday. There will be questions after Chap. 7 on Wednesday. We will have a final test either on Friday or Monday - depending on when we actually finish.

Week of March 15-19. We are still reading "The Graveyard Book." Questions after each chapter.

Week of March 8-12. Continue with "The Graveyard Book." Questions after each chapter.

Week of March 1-5 - Monday - questions for Chap. 1, then continue reading. There will be questions after each chapter.

Feb. 22-26. Monday - finish "The Village." Tues - write paper based on "The Village." Wed - Do the 3 ghost tours posted in our Google Classroom. Thurs - start the novel "The Graveyard Book." Questions after each chapter.

Feb. 16-19. Monday - "The Dune" with questions. Tues - finish "The Dune' and start "The Village." We will be writing a paper on how it is Gothic Lit. Due Friday.

Feb. 8-11. Mon - finish Frankenstein drawing. Present either on Monday or beginning of class Tuesday. Continue reading novel. We may finish this week. There will be a test whenever we do finish the story - either Thursday or next Tuesday.

Feb. 1-5. Start Frankenstein. There will a quiz after Chap. 4 and 11.

Week of Jan 25-29. We will be watching Krampus. You will be writing an essay explaining how it uses the elements of Gothic Lit when we are done.

Assignments

Gothic Literature

May 6-10. Finish "The Pit and the Pendulum" movie - write paper showing how it is Gothic Lit and explaining the similarities to the original story by Poe. This paper will be the final - due Wednesday.

April 29-May 3. Read "The Pit and the Pendulum." Worksheet when done. Then we will watch the 50's version and they will be writing a compare and contrast paper at the conclusion.

April 22-26. Mon - finish "Jekyll and Hyde." Do test. Tues - start "Krampus." Test Friday on how it follows the elements of Gothic Lit.

April 1-5. "The Others" Quiz after first day. Paper on elements of Gothic lit when we finish - probably Thursday?

March 25-29. Quiz when we finish Chap 7 - probably on Wed. We should finish the book on Thursday and do the final test Friday.

March 11-15. Continue "Graveyard" - quiz after Chap. 4 and 6.

Feb. 25-March 1 - start "The Graveyard Book." quiz after each Chap. Test when we finish the story.

Feb. 19-22. Tues - paper on "Woman in Black." Wed - "The Hanging Stranger." worksheet Thursday when we are done reading the story. Fri - Begin "The Dune."

Feb. 11-14. Watch "Woman in Black." They will be writing and essay explaining how this uses the 6 elements of Gothic Literature.

Feb. 4-8. We will finish "Frankenstein" this week. There will be a test at the end of the novel. Depending on when we finish the novel - we may be starting "The Others" with a paper showing how it follows the elements of Gothic Lit.

Jan. 21-25. Mon - finish essay on "The Village." Tues - Wed - "The Cask of Amontillado. Worksheet. Thur and Fri - "The Black Cat." Worksheet. If we get done early, we will begin "Frankenstein."

Jan. 28-Feb. 1 - Continue "Frankenstein." Next quiz after Chapter 11 (probably on Monday or right away Tues). Read through Chap. 13. Then we will be doing a 'scene' drawing of their choice from the story. They will be due end of day Friday.

May 15-19. Mon - day of caring and reward trip. Tues - Fri - finish "The Pit and The Pendulum" and write a compare and contrast paper - due Friday.

May 8-12. MOn - "Popular Mechanics" - read and do questions. Tues - Wed - "Replacements." read and do questions. Thurs - start "The Lonesome Town."

May 1-5. Mon - Wed - finish "Woman In Black." Do paper on Wed. Thur and Fri - begin work on rewriting "The Black Cat" using "Picture this" site. Due Monday.

April 24-28. Mon - finish Chap. 7 and do questions. Tues - finish book. Discuss and take notes. Wed - final on "The Graveyard Book."

April 18-21. Questions for Chap. 6 on Monday. Then continue reading "The Graveyard Book." Questions after Chap. 7

April 3-13. Continue with "The Graveyard Book." Quiz after each chapter.

March 28-31. Start the novel "The Graveyard Book" by Gaiman. Quiz after each chapter - test at conclusion of book.

March 20-24. Do questions for "The Dune." After - fix paper from "The Others."

March 6-10. Finish Frankenstein. Test after. Thurs - present drawings. When finished, background and start "The Others."

Feb. 27 - March 3. Read through Chap. 13. quiz. We will then be doing a drawing based on a scene from the first 13 chapters. It will be graded on details - not 'quality':)

Feb. 21-24. Start Frankenstein. There will a quiz after Chap. 4 and 11.

Feb. 13-17. Watch "Krampus." Write essay on what makes it Gothic literature when done using all 6 elements of Gothic Lit.

Feb. 6-10. Finish Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Do worksheet and quiz.

Jan. 30-Feb. 3. Mon - "The Black Cat" worksheet. Tues - dodge ball. Wed - Fri - Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Jan. 24-27. Tues - lecture on expectations and explanation of Gothic Lit. Our first two stories will be from Poe. Begin "A Cask of Amontillado." Wed - discuss story and do worksheet. Thurs and Fri - "The Black Cat." worksheet.
