The RIT Iceberg is dedicated to the preservation of more than a century of student created culture on campus. In many cases, the Iceberg is the only permanent home for the unique stories, creations, and traditions that it maintains. As the definitive repository of RIT’s student culture, we feel it is imperative to ensure that it remains as complete and unmodified as possible. Therefore, please be advised that the exhibit includes historical materials, student creations, and experiences from campus life that may not be appropriate for all users. Viewer discretion is advised.
The RIT Iceberg is a collection of historical facts, folklore, and student material culture. It compiles 120+ unique entries that covered everything from inside jokes, pranks, and graffiti to legends and myths.

About the Folklore
All information that was gathered and compiled here sources public information and interviews with alumni. The summaries are as objective as possible, with most opinions and perspectives removed from the text.
When talking about individuals or past events, clubs, or organizations that exist today, remember that what happened in the past is a product of the time, and may not reflect the current person, club, or organization. All throughout, the term "allegedly," is used liberally, since most of the time, the sources left for historians may be biased. The deeper into the Iceberg you look, the less reliable the sources become, but all the items within are real. This document is an encyclopedia of sources, and if you want to research further into a topic, or to fact check it, all of the sources can be found preserved here.
