Whom the Race Benefits
The Excellence in Education Foundation for Richardson ISD Schools provides funding for programs that support excellence in teaching and high-achieving students, raises funds for the enrichment and innovations of teaching for all students, recognizes and rewards excellence in teaching and performance, and reinforces positive relations with the community.
The race begins at the plaza and runs down Performance Blvd towards N. Greenville Ave before skirting along Plano Rd past Lookout Dr. At Spring Creek the course takes to the trails of Galatyn Park for a beautifully quiet and scenic tree-covered mile before emerging alongside the DART rail at Routh Creek Pkwy. The 3.1 mile race ends with a straightaway sprint along the DART rail back to the Plaza at the Renaissance Hotel.
This closed course boasts spirit stops by numerous high school bands, drumlines, drill teams, cheerleaders, and community members determined to pump the runners up along the way. Volunteers are encouraged to contact their school's Race Coordinator or building principal for more information about contributing to the spirit stops.

Are there any water stops along the route?
There is not a water stop during the 5K run or 1-mile fun run. However emergency personnel and spirit volunteers line a majority of the course and runners are almost always within eyesight of a volunteer or race official. Water is provided at the start and finish lines.
Are headphones or earbuds allowed
Most of our runners are big boys and girls. Whilst some of the run takes place in wooded parks and running trails, some of the course takes place on Richardson streets. The Richardson Police Department is fantastic, but situational awareness is still paramount. Whilst not forbidden, the use of headphones and earbuds is discouraged for the safety of all runners.
Is there a maximum time allowed on the course?
We encourage all participants to have a fun and spirit-filled time on the course. Because portions of Greenville Ave and Plano Rd will be used for the run there is a time limit on the course. Participants who have not crossed the finish line of the 5K course within 1 hour of the start will be picked up by the trail vehicles or other emergency vehicles.
Can I run with my stroller or leashed dogs?
Runners and leashed dogs are permitted on the race course. However, it is strongly encouraged that participants that move slower or that take up more space delay their start for one or two minutes to allow the faster participants to begin. Each runner has an individual timing chip, and this delay will not count against a runner.
How do I join an official spirit stop?
Contact the EiE Volunteer Coordinator (TBA) for more information.
Who is providing security and traffic enforcement along the route?
Traffic control is provided by the fabulous Richardson Police Department, the Richardson Citizens on Patrol (COPs), and other local emergency service providers.
