Intro to Dance 7-8

This co-ed course introduces students to concepts and techniques of a variety of dance forms. No dance experience or prior knowledge is required. However, students who have studied dance are always welcome and will be in an environment where they can grow. The forms of dance we will study may include modern, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, folk/ethnic, and choreography. Dancers will explore creativity and choreography as well as physical fitness during this course. The students are required to wear appropriate athletic attire during class. Dance is a performance-based art form and students will be required to participate in at least one performance outside of the regular instructional day as part of the course requirements. Most performances will take place during class.

This course cannot be taken if the student has taken 5002 Dance PE Adv 


Advanced Dance is a course for students with prior dance experience and will focus on technical and performance skills in all genres. The forms of dance we will study may include modern, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, folk/ethnic, and choreography. The students are required to wear appropriate dance attire and dance shoes. Purchase of dance attire is the responsibility of the student. There may also be additional expenses for performance attire. Students who enroll in advanced dance will be required to participate in extra rehearsals and performances outside of the regular instructional day as part of the course requirements. 

*Teacher approval is needed to be placed in this course. Students who are interested in this course will be required to attend a skill evaluation during the Spring semester before starting this class. If the evaluation determines their level is a good fit for Advanced Dance, their counselor will be notified and they will be enrolled in the course.
