Cosmetology I

This course is part of a planned 1500 clock hour, two-year sequence of classroom and lab instruction. One thousand laboratory clock hours plus 500 academic hours awarded upon the completion of the laboratory hours enroute to earning a state license and permit from TDLR. Instruction is designed to provide job-specific training for entry-level employment in cosmetology careers. Instruction includes sterilization and sanitation processes, shampooing and rinsing hair, application of creams and color rinses, application of scalp and hair treatments, shaping and thinning hair, hairstyling, permanent waving, hair coloring, manicuring, facial massage and make-up.

Cosmetology II

This course will introduce high school students to the field of non-profits/community service and counseling. Students will explore career options that provide assistance for individuals and families in need. The students will understand policies, design community service plans, and develop a portfolio community and state resources. Students will be encouraged to job shadow, volunteer for community service-based experiences, and participate in service-learning opportunities.
